What does ambergris smell like?
Ambergris-like effects can feel mineral, marine, warm and subtly animalic rather than sugary. They are different from classic amber’s balsamic sweetness. In contemporary perfume, the impression may be very clean and airy or richer and more textured.

The material behind the impression
Natural ambergris is an animal-derived material associated with sperm whales, but modern perfumery widely uses alternative aroma materials and accords. A note listing does not prove natural ambergris or establish vegan status. The imagery here is deliberately abstract and non-animal.

Its place in the composition
Ambergris accords can lend space and warmth around flowers and woods. Jasmine supplies light, cedarwood a dry frame and saffron a textured accent. Their usual heart-to-base role is often about a sustained aura rather than a single obvious marine note.
