What does jasmine smell like?
Jasmine can be airy and radiant or dense, warm and almost fruity. Its indolic facets give some interpretations a ripe, sensual quality rather than a clean flower-shop smell. The balance with citrus, woods and sweet notes determines which side you notice.

The material behind the impression
Jasmine absolutes come from fragrant Jasminum flowers, while many perfumes use reconstructed floral accords as well. Species and extraction matter. Moroccan jasmine is retained as a regional label in this guide; the explicitly different sambac note has its own page rather than being silently treated as identical.

Its place in the composition
Jasmine fills the heart and can connect bright top notes to a substantial base. Vanilla makes it creamier, bergamot adds light, and patchouli lends shadow. It need not dominate: a trace of jasmine-like radiance can make a fragrance feel more open without reading as a full bouquet.
