What does oakmoss smell like?
Oakmoss suggests dry green earth, lichen and shaded woodland rather than fresh-cut grass. A soft bitterness gives it structure. It can make fruit and flowers feel more grounded, lending depth without the creamy sweetness of sandalwood.

The material behind the impression
Oakmoss is a lichen, commonly associated with Evernia prunastri, not the wood of an oak tree. Perfumery uses controlled extracts, fractions and reconstructed mossy effects. The note does not reveal the material specification or prove natural lichen is present.

Its place in the composition
Oakmoss anchors citrus, fruit and floral compositions with a dry green base. Bergamot provides a bright contrast, patchouli adds earth and rose softens the structure. The broader note moss is kept separate because it does not name this particular lichen reference.
