What does violet smell like?
Violet is often powdery, gently sweet and quietly floral rather than lush. Ionone-like facets can bring a dry woody undertone, which is why the note sits comfortably with woods and leather. A violet flower accord differs from the greener, cucumber-like reference of violet leaf.

The material behind the impression
Violet flower effects in perfume are usually reconstructed rather than obtained as a conventional flower essential oil. Ionones are important to many interpretations. A violet accord describes a scent idea and should not be read as proof of violet extract or confused with violet-leaf absolute.

Its place in the composition
Violet can soften berry compositions or add powdery detail to woody hearts. Iris makes the powder more pronounced; raspberry introduces fruit; cedarwood keeps the effect dry. Its sweetness is often delicate, providing a different mood from syrupy fruit or caramel.
