What does hedione smell like?
Hedione is often described as luminous and jasmine-like rather than a dense flower smell. It can bring a fresh, slightly citrus or tea-like air around other notes. Its effect is sometimes easier to notice as spaciousness in a composition than as a separate strong scent.

The material behind the impression
Hedione is a trade name associated with methyl dihydrojasmonate perfume materials. It is not jasmine essential oil. Different grades and blends can behave differently, and a note listing does not identify a formula, dose or physiological effect.

Its place in the composition
Hedione opens up florals, woods and even warm gourmand compositions. Jasmine gives context to its floral facet, bergamot adds brightness and amberwood provides contrast. It may be listed in the top, heart or base because its role spans the composition rather than a rigid stage.
