What does lavender smell like?
Lavender combines flowers with herbs rather than behaving like a lush white floral. It can feel fresh, dry, gently sweet or slightly camphoraceous. That range explains why it works in both clean aromatic scents and unexpectedly warm vanilla compositions.

The material behind the impression
Lavender materials vary by species, origin and extraction. Lavandula angustifolia and lavandin hybrids are not identical, although a perfume note may simply say lavender. An accord can emphasise floral linalool-like brightness or drier herbal facets without declaring a particular natural oil.

Its place in the composition
Lavender brings order to sweet notes and an aromatic link between citrus and woods. Vanilla rounds it, while spices give it warmth. Do not assume a lavender perfume will resemble a linen product: tobacco, cacao or patchouli can transform the familiar floral-herbal reference.
